Álvaro Trabanco
I do communication design –digital and print– to provide a global answer for the communication needs of my clients. I am also a photographer.
(1991, Gijón/Xixón, Spain) is a communication designer and photographer with a MA in Communication Design and New Media, from the Fine Arts Faculty of the University of Lisbon, a Bologna Degree in Graphic Design by Higher School of Arts of Caldas da Rainha, as well as a Bachelor in Graphic Design by the Higher School of Arts of the Principality of Asturias. Having worked in the sector for the last ten years, Álvaro is specialised in communication design, branding, UX/UI, printed media and photography.
His master thesis focused on digital storytelling in non-fictional contexts, such as those related to photojournalist practices. It analyses the new life that such activity could have in the digital environment, as well as the role of the communication designers in its development. He put his research into practice in a digital artefact called Tras los Pasos, narrating the migration processes within the author’s family, using photography and other traditional media applied and elevated through its digital combination. He designed, wrote, photographed and coded everything from scratch.
